New Xbox Live updates hit Nov. 17th
Microsoft announced today that its long-awaited Xbox Live update will finally hit consoles on November 17th. Unless you have been living under a rock or are just not that news savvy, then you will already know that Facebook and Twitter among other things are coming to the Xbox 360. With Facebook, you can link your account straight to your xbox live account therefore making it easier to update you profiles and chat with friends. Twitter also looks to be a welcome addition to the xbox community. I can’t wait to start tweeting from my Xbox!
Also coming with the update will be the Zune on-demand HD movie service and music streaming capabilities from Last.fm. I cannot wait for these features as it will make playing music and watching movies whole heck of a lot easier. Zune on-demand will offer full 1080p HD movies, along with 5.1 digitial surround sound, for download and they can either be rented or purchased. Last.fm will stream music in a similar fashion to how Netflix currently runs on xbox live. Should be a nice addition indeed!
As an added bonus, Microsoft is also going to add a ‘news and more’ section to the dashboard that will stream news and other content from MSNBC and The New Yorker among others. All of the new content should give Xbox Live a great new feel and with the ability to communicate with friends and family so easily, should provide for a more enjoyable gaming experience.
