Grease coming to Wii and DS?

greaseFor Everyone wondering this is not some new awesome car game…this is the game adaptation of the Movie “Grease”, you know the one with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. It was  announced today that Paramount would collaborate with 505 Games to adapt the 1978 film into a party game for casual and family gamers.  Players will sing and dance with Danny Zuko, Sandy Olsson, and the rest of the T-Birds and Pink Ladies(For people who don’t know these were the actual names of groups  in the movie).  According to Paramount, the game will “take full advantage of Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensing controls and microphone and the DS’s touch screen.” It’s unclear if Paramount and 505 Games were referring to the Wii Speak peripheral or third-party microphones used by such rhythm games as Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band.

Since the success of Rock Band and pre-order success of the Beatles game, Studio execs must be just sitting around looking at all their old stuff thinking they can make a game out of it. Of course the Wii will be part of it, the system that refuses to turn down a game, maybe its the advantage of having not to worry about making really good graphics or its just really easy to make games for it. Will we see Flashdance, or for that matter Grease 2..and Grease 3 was their even a Grease 3(I have no idea, and really don’t want to check it out, I would actually feel weird knowing that information.)

Well I digress because it is coming out and some people will be getting, heck the recently released report has 28% of people playing games are female now. Every female like Grease I would Imagine, so a product that would be fun for 28% of people could sell well. But do you really want it too, since more weak old movie game adaptations will follow?

Here is the Song from the movie that I am sure will be one of the big selling features of the Game..you get to sing this song every night!
